Fete

Yet again we were fortunate to have fantastic weather for this years fete. In what proved to be one of the hottest days of the year so far, everybody enjoyed the stalls and activities in the garden, with the sounds of Gretton Silver Band adding to the atmosphere.

The fete is a team effort, which is what makes the day so successful and enjoyable and I’d like to say a BIG thank you to the following:
Clive & Ann Underwood for allowing the Fete to again be hosted in their beautiful garden.
The team of volunteers who helped to set up and dismantle the fete- your help is much appreciated.
The stall holders and all people who helped in the run up to the fete.
Anybody who bought raffle tickets and came along and supported the fete.
All our advertisers and people who donated prizes or goods for the stalls.
Martin Tanner for opening the fete.
Kettering Borough Council fora gain helping to support the event.
Over £1000 was raised for village groups, which is a marvellous achievement and this will shortly be distributed.

Fete competition winners were:
Scarecrows - Mountford family for their elephant, Nelly.
Front page of programme - Jasmine Price
Back page of programme - Joe Hiner
£100 first prize - Luke Marshall
Fancy dress - Courtney & Lucas Mountford.

Brookside

Unfortunately the weather kept us indoors in July but thanks to Linda and John everyone enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea. We raised £80 towards our mower fund which now stands at £481.50. The next Brookside event will be a BBQ at 12 noon on August 25.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Mick & Elsie Woodhouse who celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary.

To all I might still know

I had intended attending your fete in June but my health is not 100% so I was unable to come. I hope you had a wonderful and enjoyable afternoon with lots of profit for your various causes. Fred Blackmore

Village Hall Restoration

Just when we thought we were getting somewhere along comes another blow from the ‘powers that be’. It now looks as if the lottery is to stop providing money for Community Buildings! Must be another dome on the way. Please contact your MP, Philip Hollobone and ask him to petition Sir Clive Booth, Chair of the Big Lottery Fund, to set up a National Community Building Fund.

We are currently awaiting news from our application to NCC. KBC has offered to support us and we have entered a competition for Village Halls organised by WREN - a landfill site management company.

Remember we still have cards available for sale so if you need a card for any occasion please think of the Village Hall. They can also be used for Christmas. 467125/431501
