CAR TREASURE HUNT On Sunday, June 12th a Car Treasure Hunt has been organized in aid of the Village Hall Restoration Project. More importantly we are hoping that villagers and friends will join us for an afternoon of fun, exploring the delights of the lanes and villages in the Braybrooke area, perhaps discovering interesting features never noticed before! The cost is £20.00 per car (ideally 4 per car - £5.00 per person) This is not a race and the starting point is the Village Hall car park between 1.30pm and 2.30pm so you should turn up between those times to collect your clues! The estimated time that it will take is between 2 & 4 hours with a distance of between 20 & 30 miles. (Actual distance cannot be revealed as this will be used in case of a tie). Entry forms will be delivered to every house in the Village in the near future and to assist organization please complete and return the form together with your entry fee to:- 19 Griffin Road or ring David or Gill with any queries (but not for the answers or the route!)

CRICKET The 2005 season is underway and what a great start. The Racehorse (N/hampton) were soundly beaten by Braybrooke Cricket Club in the first match, our winter preparation proving invaluable. BCC made 209 for 9, with most of the team making early season runs, notably, Mike Ward 38, Dave Winter 34 NO, Nick Chudley 28, James Panter 20 NO, Glyn Panter 19. The 10 man Racehorse were dismissed for 61. Dave Winter 11 for 3, Dave Marks 26 for 3. The match against Houghton-on-the-Hill 2nd XI was cancelled because of overnight rain. Club calamity, Captain Paul Clarke has an injury that could keep him out until August. Vice-captain Dave Winter took charge of the record match against Anstey & Glenfield. A really good match played in autumnal conditions. Unfortunately BCC was narrowly defeated. BCC again batted first and made a defendable 124 all out. Hugh Hackett (our overseas signing, well he is originally from Scotland!) cemented a regular place on the team scoring 30 NO, Nick Chudley 21, Ben Stanley 16. Anstey & Glenfield struggled but passed this total with 3 overs to spare. Dave Winter 11 for 2, Dave Marks 24 for 2. All matches have been included in Dates for your Diary and a 2005 fixtures card is in the Village Notice Board outside the Village Hall. Matches are all played on Sunday. Spectators always welcome. Remember July 31 our annual match v Arthingworth for the Supaseal Trophy with family entertainment.

VILLAGE HALL AGM The AGM took place on 3 May. Jim Thompson was re-elected as Chair, Andrea Lane Secretary and Sam Elmore Treasurer. The bids for money to support the Restoration Project have been sent to KBC & NCC and the bid to the Lottery will be sent as soon as the new Community Fund is available. Thanks to everyone who has supported the fund raising effort so far and please keep up the good work.
FLOWERS ON THE GREEN Thank you to Ruth Tiney who has made the flower bed on the green so beautiful this year. It is a lovely sight when you enter the village. Well done Ruth.
SCHOOL NEWS The school is organising its annual May celebrations. There will be maypole dancing and the crowning of a May Queen. We had considered processing through the village, as I understand this was a feature of some years back. Having spent many years as a Morrisman, I would love to see this growing to involve the village team. Perhaps we can make contact and discuss this for next year? In the meantime, readers are more than welcome to visit us on May 27th in the afternoon to see the dancing and share any memories of similar celebrations in the near or distant past. Life at the school has been very busy. The children are supporting Sarah Adams (from the village) in her quest to raise money to go on a Great Wall of China trek. The children raised £20 in a Crazy Clothes Day at school. We wish Sarah the best and look forward to seeing her when she returns, with pictures of our Class 1 teddy on the Great Wall! A recent visit from LEA inspectors gave the school a glowing report. All the lessons they observed were judged as ''Good'' or ''Outstanding'' (Ofsted speak). There are not so many schools able to claim such high standards. The children's behaviour was also seen as ''good''. Once again can I invite any readers to visit us and see what we are about? We would love some voluntary help with readers, or any other strengths you might have. Please ring Linda Handy (01858 464799) or just call in! Ken Sharman, Headteacher.
EASTER EGG-STRAVAGANZA Twenty eight children plus several adults joined in the fun and games on Easter Saturday, and all must have been eggs-austed by the end of the afternoon. They eggs-celled themselves at making Easter cards and cakes and there was a fine eggs-hibition of eggs-otic Easter bonnets which had been eggs-pertly designed. There was also pin the tail on the rabbit where the children were blindfolded and with eggs-treme skill they tried to pin the tail in eggs-actly the correct position. After the eggs-cessive rainfall, we all got some eggs-ercise and eggs-plored the village on the Easter Egg Hunt. All the children won at least one Easter egg each, so nobody was eggs-cluded. The day ended at the school field with the fun and eggs-ertion of egg and spoon races for children and adults. The money raised (£140.00) towards the Village Hall Restoration Project far eggs-ceeded all eggs-pectations. Thanks go to all who helped with the day, eggs-pecially Andrea & Kevin and Catherine & Sarah for all their hard work, and to those who supported the event in any way to make it such an eggs-cellent success.
